For generations, Lymington Sea Water Baths have been part of life in Lymington.
Perhaps you learnt to swim here, spent summer holidays at the Baths, played water polo, brought your children or grandchildren, worked here, remember the fountains or diving boards, or simply have a story about a memorable day beside the water.
As part of our work to understand, celebrate and protect the heritage of the Sea Water Baths, we would love to hear your memories.
Your story could be from last summer or many decades ago. Every contribution can help us build a richer picture of what the Baths have meant to the people who have used them.
What could you tell us?
ou can write as much or as little as you like and you do not need to answer every question.
You might like to tell us approximately when your memory took place and how old you were. Who were you with? What brought you to the Baths? What did the site look and feel like? Do you remember particular people, events, traditions or features? Perhaps you remember the fountains, diving boards, changing facilities, swimming lessons, water polo or simply spending long summer days beside the pool.
We would also love to hear how you think the Baths changed over the years and what they have meant to you or your family.
Do you have old photographs or other material?
You can also send us photographs, postcards, programmes, tickets or other material connected with the Sea Water Baths.
Please only upload material that you own or have permission from the copyright owner to share with us.
If your photograph shows identifiable living people, please make sure they are happy for you to submit the photograph and, where you give us permission to publish it, for it potentially to appear publicly.
How might we use your contribution?
We hope to use selected memories to help tell the story of Lymington Sea Water Baths.
If you give us permission, we may reproduce all or part of your contribution on the Sea Water Baths website, Town Council websites and social media, in exhibitions and displays, printed publications, reports, presentations, educational material, funding applications and other material connected with the heritage and future of the Baths.
We may make minor edits for spelling, length, clarity, accessibility or formatting, but we will not deliberately change the meaning of your contribution.
You can choose whether a published contribution shows your full name, your first name only or no name at all.
Not every contribution will necessarily be published.
Your privacy and your choices
You do not have to agree to public use of your story in order to submit it. If you would prefer, we can retain your contribution for heritage research and project purposes without publishing it.
Any permission you give us to publish identifiable material can be withdrawn for future use. More information is provided in the privacy notice below.
